Commentary by Judith [Riverdale, NY]

The Republicans leaked the Foley scandal. The timing was when Bush said it's OK to torture prisoners, and the Woodward book came out, telling that the Bush administration was repeatedly warned of impending attacks, way before 9/11. And, what I always believed, that Tenant agreed to take the blame. The CIA was NOT at fault. The information they had was ignored by the Bush Administration (on purpose?). For his cooperation, Tenant was rewarded with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Remember? Iraq is probably in a civil war. US policy there is more and more obviously (even to those who don't pay attention) an even worse disaster than it always was. Afghanistan is a mess, and the Taliban are (have been) getting stronger and stronger. All the mass media is talking about is the Foley sex scandal. (Despite everything, it is a DISTRACTION to what is going on.) Plus, the Bush people may think it wouldn't be a disaster for them if the Republicans DID lose the Senate. It would wake the Republicans out of their complacency and get them fighting for the 2008 presidential race, and they will have someone to blame for the messes Bush makes the next two years. (Since the Democrats are not much different from them, anyway, and are cowards and are NOT exposing what is going on. All the horrible, insane, incompetent things Bush and Co. are doing.) Since the Foley scandal involves Foley and a few others, not all the Republicans, these are "collateral damage", which may not hurt the Republicans, in general, after all.

Now, they are blaming the Democrats for the Foley leak. Classic Rove, years ago, he "broke into his own office" and accused the Democrats of doing it. Bush wanted North Korea to do Nuclear Tests (North Korea was begging for years for negotiations with the US and asked for them, again, right before their tests). Bush refused, provoking them, publicly "pushing them into a corner" and leaving them with no choice but to conduct the tests. Things are going exactly as the Bush Administration wants. (Don't know if Armageddon is tied in with all Bush's insane policies, or if it “only” wants world domination.

Iran is another red herring, they do not want to make nuclear weapons and have said so. (Yet the US may bomb their nuclear facilities.) The US is sending a fleet out to the Gulf, according to Randy Rhodes on Air America, today. Scaring the American people, the Republicans think they will do better in the election if terrorism scares are intensified, that the ignorant American people feel the Republicans are stronger against terrorism.
