Intelligent, well researched and clear-sighted commentary by fellow NYC Kucitizen Linda Zoblotsky, now living in Texas, and graciously shares with us here at FOFF
What I know from my perspective is that the campaign finance laws are inadequate because presidential candidates like Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, David Cobb do not stand on equal footing financially as the corporate candidates, Bush and Kerry. The biggest loosers are not Dennis Kucinich for example who works as an activist to make the Democratic Party relivent by seeing what many others can not see that the war in Iraq is the number one issue affecting this country's every aspect, our homeland security, as far as increasing the possibility of another terrorist attack, our economic security and our standing in the world. Also I have seen intelligent dialogue to this effect from Nader, Cobb and others. This dialogue is not only intelligent, it is reality.
The biggest loosers of the corporate occupation of the United State's shadow government is the American people.
What happened in the Gulf Coast is not about poor unemployed African American people suffering. The media coverage to this extent is simply exploitational. The real story is that poor African American people have no say in the future of their community because the military has been ordered to lock these people out of their neighborhoods. The media has reported that 165,000 homes will be destroyed. White people >who suffered the same flood damage are being advised that their homes are structurally sound, but just need to be gutted to rid the mold. But still, white people on the gulf have lost their jobs, their homes, their neighborhoods and their communities and the compassionate conservative government does NOT care.
This morning I heard Sally Fields doing a SAVE THE CHILDREN commercial. he was not talking about children half way around the world. She was talking about Katrina victims, never the less Rita victims and Wilma too. This reality is not Sally Struthers crying for the camara in some distant land. This is about real Americans crying for our land.
How many of thousands of people are left in Pakistan freezing and starving after the earthquake and the super power is unable and worse, unwilling to care about any of it, only to seek opportunity out of other people's misery.
And this Congress and FEC is working to limit the rights of Americans. Yesterday I voted against Prop. 2 which would outlaw same sex marriage in Texas and refuse to recognize marriages of same sex couples from out of state. Everyday I hear the hateful commercials in support of Prop2. This hatred comes from a fear that is blowing across this nation from the American Taliban, which seeks to limit the rights of minorities in their basic pursuit of happiness and a greater majority of the people in their ability to communicate on the Internet and and even greater majority of people in their ability to have a forum in which to be exposed to people who are interested in the greater good of the community and are running for office to promote their progressive idealisms.
The shadow government puts forth only corporate candidates who smile pretty for the beer drinkers and wear funny duck hunting outfits to win the State of Ohio, as Dennis Kucinich is fighting for the jobs of his constituents. Look at the Congressional website of Kucinich. The war is always close at hand, but the jobs have left Ohio. The elections are outsourced to corporate mainstream and the livelihoods of Americans are outsourced everyday to slave labor, while the corporate media makes apologies for Wal-Mart and makes claims that The White House is working to control the damage of Plamegate, oh and we should be ever so thankful that George W. Bush has a job to do --- ROB THE NATIONAL TREASURY AND INVADE SYRIA AND IRAN under our noses while Libby pleads innocent.
